480 BC: Bronze Warriors

480 BC
Bronze Warriors, or Riace Warriors, Statue A, 198 cm high (Museo Archeologico Nazionale Reggio Calabria)

The Bronze Warrior Statue A is one of two Greek’s life-size statues of the nude, bearded men. The statue stands at 198 centimeters, and it was cast with the lost-wax technique. This statue is known to be the younger in comparison to both statues. He posed in a relaxed manner with his head tilted to his right. His shield, spear and helmet are lost, but his inset eyes survived. His hair and beard are curly, and copper details are added to his nipples and lips.
